In 1995 Swallowtail Waldorf School was founded based on environmental education and Waldorf principles which have carried us to the dynamic learning institution that we are proud of today. The past few years have yielded significant growth in our community, with an average class size of 16. Our 6.5-acre main campus is located in northwest Oregon in the city of Cornelius.
Our farm campus is located fifteen minutes away on the western edge of Hilsboro on 26 acres with a farmhouse and barn, sweeping expanse of productive farmland, woodlands, bio-dynamic gardens, outbuildings and a meandering creek. The land provides an outdoor classroom for our students, and much of the curriculum is interwoven with farm activity involving anything from simple chores and harvesting, to erecting temporary shelters and caring for livestock. Swallowtail Farm is held deeply in the hearts of our community and most of our seasonal festivals are celebrated here.
Swallowtail Waldorf School and Farm is AWSNA and WECAN recognized.
In addition to the rural and suburban towns surrounding Swallowtail, a 30-minute drive will find you in the metropolis of downtown Portland. Head another hour east and the beautiful Cascade Mountains await with skiing, hiking, and other outdoor wonders. A short hour to the west, you will find the picturesque Oregon coast.
