Admissions Procedures

Our Approach

to Admissions

Swallowtail School has a multi-step application process, designed to give the family and school a chance to get to know one another before enrollment. The school community and individual families benefit when families stay at the school year after year, providing continuity for the children and teachers.

We know that this is more likely to happen when the experience of attending our school matches the expectations from the outset. To that end, we have created an admissions process that allows time to reflect before committing.

Steps to Enrollment

We’re here to help and guide your family through the enrollment process. Please feel free to reach out if you need assistance at any time!

Come in for an interview

  • All applicants complete an interview prior to admission.

  • Early Childhood interviews are often conducted in groups while Grades interviews are one-on-one with the teacher and student.

  • For students applying to the Grades, a grade-readiness assessment is also conducted.

  • After an interview we will often invite students to join their prospective class for a few visit days, to ensure a good fit on both sides.

Schedule a Tour or Attend an Open House

  • We require all families to either complete a personalized tour or attend an open house prior to applying to ensure a good fit.

  • Tours can be scheduled by clicking the ‘Request a Tour’ button below.

  • Here is our Open House schedule.

Complete enrollment paperwork

  • Due to space limitations, accepted applicants must return a signed contract within one week of the date on the acceptance letter.

  • At enrollment, non-refundable materials and facilities fees are due.

  • Families may choose to pay their tuition in one lump payment (for a 3% discount) or select payment plans breaking tuition into 2 mid-year payments or monthly payments split over 10 or 12 months.

Submit an Application

  • Applicants who apply by our Early Decision deadline (Jan 31) will be given preference over applications received later in the year. Applying by this deadline also makes it more likely that we will be able to meet your family's financial needs with tuition assistance.

  • A $100 non-refundable fee is charged for each submitted application.
